Hvedegaard Knives - Hunt-X Custom hunting knife RWL-34 steel with blue stabilized curly birch
Through this HUNT-X I became aware of the Danish knife maker Mikkel Hvedegaard. Unbelievable when you consider that Mikkel is only 23 years old! Not only that his knives are of absolutely high quality, the same applies to his leather sheaths. A good leather sheath is often neglected, but not at Mikkel. It perfectly matches the color of the knife and leather sheath.
For this Hunt-X he used RWL-34 steel and hardened it to 60 HRC. I asked him to only use wood with a strong structure for my knives. For this custom knife, he used blue-colored and stabilized burl wood. The hand-applied longitudinal finish is clearly visible on the blade. Here you can see with what precision and uniformity he applied this. Visually, the wrong edge is a nice eye-catcher here. He underlaid the blue root wood with a yellow liner.
He fixed the root wood with brass pings and built in a lanyard hole for you. He also created the leather sheath to match the blue wooden handle with yellow liner. Here he adjusted the color of the handle and also used the color of the liner as the seam. The leather sheath is first class and has a belt loop. In the lower part of the leather sheath, he has fed another lining in order to reduce the lateral penetration of the leather sheath.
